andios 14 beta 4 has been out a little while to developers and public betatesters and so i wanted to talk about more newfeatures that i didn't cover in my initial videonow quite a few of you sent me videos or sent mephotos of things that you were having either issues with or new features
youfound so thanks to everyone that sent those alongi'm just going to cover the new features right now and the first thing is4k youtube videos if you weren't aware ios 14 supportsvp9 it's a codec that youtube uses and of course many of you have had this withprevious betas but it finally showed up for meand so you'll see that i have it here on my iphone 11 pro maxit may vary on device to device but you should be able to doup to 2160p or 4k in hdr so it's great to have that feature now aviewer subash pointed out that if you put this inlandscape and pull down the control center the volume sliders are nowtaking up the full height of the display soin this landscape orientation you can see volume and display brightness arenow full size widgets instead of just sortof being a smaller area so it's something you'll see only inlandscape
though so you have to be in a video then pull down that wayyou'll be able to see it that way now if you use the apple store app there'sactually a hidden easter egg so go into the apple store appwait for it to load go to search and type in10 years and it will pop up some balloons celebrating 10 years of theapple store so you can sort of interact with them move themaround and it's just celebrating that 10-year anniversarynow there's another change with widgets on the home screen so if you press andhold to edit the widget and then you go to edit you'll see itlooks a little bit different than we had withbeta 3. so i'll do the same on my iphone 10r that's running beta3and you'll see it just looks a little bit different so it's a little bitlarger has more room and they've changed some of the colorsand things as well also they've made it better correlate with the background soit's a little bit nicer that way now they've also changed the flag colorwithin email so if we go into an email now within email if you swipe over
andmaybe you want to flag the email you'll see that it's now redthey keep changing this color and i'm not sure what they'll settle on finallybut that's what it currently is also we gointo this email and then we flag it maybe we'll flag itas green and then we go back and we go to flagyou'll see that it's now green so i'm not sure there's a default color i thinkit's based on what you actually set now within music they've made a fewchanges as well so if we go into the music appi have beta 3 on the left beta 4 on the right again you'll see at the topthe add button has been updated so it's changed againsimilar to what we have with the play and shuffle buttons but now it's a graybackground with reddish text with a plus and thenthe word add if we add this we'll hit addwe'll give it just a moment it'll download herenow once it's downloaded you'll see up here that there's a check mark insteadof the word downloaded next to a check mark so beta4 updates it a little bit and cleans it up of course apple
couldchange this again at any time now once you're in music and playing it you havean option for infinity or basically what this means isit will continue playing after the song endsso maybe you only picked one song and you want to continue playingsongs like it afterward tap on the infinity symbol now this has been herefor a couple betas but i didn't point it outin previous ones and this was actually sentover by a viewer named i'm not sure i'm going to say this rightbut cylinder cool i'm not sure if i said that so i apologize if i didn't say itright but he sent that over and said that this symbol was there ihadn't seen it before so it's something that's newalso some people are getting a new splash
screen when they go to actuallyshare an album or share any of these different songs soi'm not seeing that it just brings up my share sheet but when some people shareit it brings up a new little splash screen now there's also a couple newsplash screens the first time you go into different applications and thefirst one has to do with reminders the first time you go into reminders itgives you a new splash screen that says what's new in reminders assign reminderssmart suggestions and lots more so that's one that's new and then alsothere's a new splash screen for notes and when you open it for the first timeit might take a moment it pops up and sayswelcome to notes add almost anything note to self or with anyoneand then also it says sketch your thoughts now i had quite a few
problemswith this and other people told me they had this issue as welland the first person to point this out was dxclan tweets that there was a newsplash screen i went into notes like i normally do andi couldn't hit continue because my keyboard kept popping upnow if this happens to you go into your multitasking close the app try it overagain hit continue it works for me no problemso it just depends on the device i had a lot of issues with my 11 pro max withthat now there's an additional pop-up when deleting an app i didn't see thisbefore i saw a slight change before i'll show you if i go over tolet's say youtube and we press and hold to delete itand then we tap on remove app you'll see on the old one it says removefrom home screen on the new new one that says move to library ishowed that before but if i tap delete app on the
newerversion it says are you sure you want to delete it or basically deleting this appwill also delete its data so i want to cancel thatif i hit delete on beta 3 it will just delete the app right awayso that's a little bit of a change and newer now there's a couple small changesin the news app prod by legend sent one of them over andthe first one is if we go into news we'll wait for it to load hereand at the top you'll see we now have two buttonsone says audio catch up on the news and listen to apple news plus stories on thego and then the one to the right says localnews and it says now in new york houston losangeles and the bay area we knew this was coming but now they have dedicatedsections at the top and then as you scroll down you'll get your
audiobriefing now as well so that's showing upin news now the final change was sent over by noah messer so i appreciateeveryone that sent those over and it has to do with on the lock screenwhen you go to swipe up so if we turn off the phone turn them back onwait for it to wake up and at the bottom you'll see it saysswipe to open it's slightly smaller on beta 4. so i'm not sure you can seethat there but it's ever so slightly smaller so those areall the changes i missed in the initial video with ios 14 beta 4and of course there's probably small changes throughout with fonts and thingslike that apple will continually change and tweak this to get it rightby the time it launches sometime in late september or octobernow look for beta 5 either this week or based on previous releases probably it'sgoing to be on a two-week cycle until after beta 5. so we may not seeanything this coming week it may be another weekbut you never know what apple's going to do but based on what they've done in thepast it'll be another
